We are looking for a Staff Product Manager for the Risk ML team within Etsy’s Risk & Fraud product organization!
As a Staff PM, you’ll tackle the hardest problems Etsy has, operating with autonomy in areas of ambiguity, and do so while cultivating a customer-oriented, hypothesis-driven approach to product development.
This role will work closely with an ML-focused squad of engineers, scientists, and analysts to help fight fraud at Etsy. This is a fast-evolving field at Etsy, and you’ll need to understand the risk & fraud space and how new technologies can close the gap on bad actors. You’ll also partner with colleagues across Analytics, Design, Engineering, Operations, and Research to build a strategy for delivering great products that balance protecting Etsy with the right amount of friction. This role has high impact potential and is essential to the future of protecting our marketplace from fraudsters.
This is a full-time position reporting to the Director of Product, Risk & Fraud. In addition to salary, you will also be eligible for an equity package, an annual performance bonus, and our competitive benefits that support you and your family as part of your total rewards package at Etsy.
For this role, we are considering candidates based in the United States. Candidates living within commutable distance of Etsy’s Brooklyn Office Hub or in the San Francisco Bay Area may be the first to be considered. For candidates within commutable distance, Etsy requires in-office attendance once or twice per week depending on your proximity to the office. What’s this team like at Etsy?
The Risk team protects Etsy from financial loss and builds buyer and seller trust by helping to ensure all users feel secure when transacting on our marketplace. We build ML-based capabilities that empower Etsy to manage risk at scale, on both the buyer and seller side of the marketplace. You’ll work closely with engineering and design partners to establish the product strategy that will advance ML for risk, ensure goals are met, and manage the constantly evolving environment of risk and fraud.
What does the day-to-day look like?
Own, define and refine a Machine Learning/AI driven product strategy that focuses on early detection of bad actors on both the buyer and seller side of the marketplace.
Collaborate closely with the ML and Data organizations at Etsy to advance the Risk ML agenda, identify partnership opportunities, and ultimately deliver products that address new and novel fraud vectors.
Own various aspects of squad operations, from quarterly planning to sprint planning, ensuring we are focusing on the most relevant business and customer problems with the best solutions.
Integrate user research, market analysis, and customer feedback into product requirements to ensure products satisfy customer needs
Collaborate with other squad leads (engineering manager, designer and analytics) to promote healthy team operations and dynamics that drive strong business impact.

Qualities that will help you thrive in this role are:
7+ years of technical Product Management or comparable experience, particularly working on highly technical platforms.
3+ years experience working in Risk, Fraud, or other adversarial domains.
Experience partnering cross-functionally to identify the most meaningful unmet customer and business needs, and building platforms and other solutions that effectively address them.
Highly motivated to help the team work with urgency and creativity to build clarity, resolve blockers, and drive impact.
Committed to learning and growing. You are curious, proactively give feedback to enable the development of others, and are receptive to the gift of feedback
