$187,000.00 - $243,000.00What’s the role?
We are looking for a Senior Product Research Manager to lead research strategy for teams working on Etsy’s search experience.
As the Senior Product Research Manager you will be responsible for leading a group of UX Researchers that partner with teams of product managers, designers, analysts, and engineers as they plan, test and refine great experiences for our buyers and sellers. For this role, we are considering candidates based in the United States. Candidates living within commutable distance of Etsy’s Brooklyn Office Hub or in the San Francisco Bay Area may be the first to be considered. For candidates within commutable distance, Etsy requires in-office attendance once or twice per week depending on your proximity to the office. Search is a multi-billion dollar product and the heartbeat for our marketplace. The Search team helps nearly 90 million customers discover unique and handmade items among the millions of items offered by our 6.2 million Sellers. We balance iterative product development with big long-term bets in service of creating a best-in-class search and browse experience, leveraging data, machine learning, qualitative research, and experimentation with e-commerce best practices to deliver at scale.
This team works across product, enablement, and marketing, and is made up of key partners in Product, Design, Analytics, Engineering, and Marketing.
Goals over the next year are around building new experiences to help buyers find the perfect item, and investing in enhancing the partnership between our experience and ML teams.
What does the day-to-day look like?
Leading a team of UX researchers, mentoring them on UX methods, prioritization and career development.
Guiding researchers on study design and wide range of generative and evaluative methods, including mixed-methods planning with quant and market researchers.
Applying agile research techniques and exploring new ways to deliver rich insights in a fast paced environment.
Collaborating and communicating in a way that amplifies the voice of our customers, ensuring that the teams’ insights are embedded and acted upon.
Partnering with other research managers to grow and develop the research team via our toolkit, talent, and socialization techniques
Recruiting and hiring outstanding researchers and facilitating their onboarding experience.
Directly contributing to our larger product strategy, alongside Product and Marketing leaders.

Qualities that will help you thrive in this role are:
5+ years experience in product and user research, and has managed a team of researchers before, ideally at a dual-sided marketplace.
3+ years previous research management experience developing and motivating a high performing UX research team, and enjoy mentoring others on how to progress in their careers.
A demonstrated track record of influencing product decision-making with inspirational, action-orientated and high quality research.
Ability to triangulate data, and are able to spot trends and opportunities through synthesizing various qualitative and quantitative inputs.
Subject matter expertise building product experiences from the ground up, and experience working on a dual-sided marketplace.
High comfort level managing stakeholders across the business (Product, Engineering, Marketing, Ops) and co-creating strategies that consider customer and business implications.
Bonus: Experience working with Search and machine learning teams.
