Salary Range:
$118,000.00 - $154,000.00What’s the role?
Design Systems are foundational to product development at Etsy, enabling teams to build brand-aligned, inclusive, usable products at scale. As a Product Designer, you will play a pivotal role in shaping the next evolution of our Design System and how our products express Etsy’s brand.
In this role, you will focus on craftsmanship and execution, which includes creating new components, updating existing ones, and maintaining comprehensive design documentation. You will work directly with Design, Product and Engineering leadership to craft our growing landscape of systems and influence the future of Etsy’s customer experience. Your work will have a multiplier effect as your products are used by all product teams, and touch every piece of the customer journey.
This is a full-time position. In addition to salary, you will also be eligible for an equity package, an annual performance bonus, and our competitive benefits that support you and your family as part of your total rewards package at Etsy.
For this role, we are considering candidates based in the United States. Candidates living within commutable distance of Etsy’s Brooklyn Office Hub or in the San Francisco Bay Area may be the first to be considered. For candidates within commutable distance, Etsy requires in-office attendance once or twice per week depending on your proximity to the office. We craft the patterns, guidelines, styles and components that make up the fabric of Etsy’s customer experience.
Our product teams use Etsy’s mature Design System, “Collage”, to build beautiful, engaging, inclusive, accessible and useful products consistently to Etsy’s Buyers and Sellers.
You will collaborate directly with Design, Product and Engineering across all platforms to craft our growing landscape of systems.

What does the day-to-day look like?
Design and maintain components, patterns, styles, and guidelines for our web and native Design System and Figma component libraries.
Create and update clear, comprehensive documentation to support design and engineering usage for the Design System.
Leverage research and metrics to inform and validate design decisions, ensuring they are data-driven and user-centered.
Make sustainable, forward-thinking decisions to support future Design Systems growth.
Foster meaningful engagement with product designers by participating in our support programs, such as Office Hours, and educational workshops to promote Design System adoption.
Champion the use of Design Systems across Etsy.
Take part in weekly design critiques, workshops, all hands and squad meetings.

Qualities that will help you thrive in this role are:
You have worked with and contributed to a Design System used by other designers and engineers.
You are proficient in Figma with experience building and maintaining component libraries.
You have experience designing for web and native apps with a clear understanding of how to adapt to the unique aspects of each platform.
You have strong visual and interaction design skills, from prototyping to polished execution with an eye for pixel perfect detail.
You have a solid understanding of accessibility standards and are committed to creating inclusive and accessible designs for all users.
You’re a systems thinker who can unravel complex problems and deliver scalable, effective solutions.
You work well in a collaborative environment and effectively partner with designers, product managers, and engineers to drive projects forward.
