What’s the role?

We are seeking to support Etsy’s growth by ensuring timely and accurate reporting and a strong and sustainable internal control environment. Our goal is to contribute to Etsy at multiple levels by combining strong accounting and business senses while subscribing to Etsy’s mission and values.

Working within the Etsy Controller’s group, you will have exposure to a variety of exciting challenges. You should be passionate about juggling priorities in a dynamic and fluid organization. Etsy has undergone a Source to Pay (S2P) transformation which resulted in a center-led procurement model with a goal to create a compliant and frictionless end user experience for S2P governance and procedures. This role serves to further this goal by creating an independent supplier onboarding lead, who will be responsible for the day to day, while creating a long term vision of supplier onboarding. 

The ideal candidate will have an excellent grasp of Etsy’s S2P system and processes while keeping an eye out for improvement. The candidate will be able to leverage their communication skills to coordinate with various departments, ensuring compliance with Etsy and HOB supplier onboarding standards while establishing strong ties with suppliers. 

This is a full-time position reporting to the Senior Manager, Procurement. In addition to salary, you will also be eligible for an equity package, an annual performance bonus, and our competitive benefits that support you and your family as part of your total rewards package at Etsy. 

This role requires your presence in Etsy’s Dublin office once or twice per week depending on your proximity to the office. What’s this team like at Etsy?

The Procurement team is a small group that believes in cross functional collaboration and communication. We engage with stakeholders at all levels from interns to Vice Presidents to help them with their purchase orders, contracts and supplier onboarding. We process over 3500 POs a year as a team, all while working on process improvement projects and metrics. Our team motto is “Procurement is a Service” and we aim to ensure that every team we work with feels heard and knows who they can speak with when they encounter process issues, have questions or want our help on a new project.

What does the day-to-day look like?

• Own the end-to-end supplier data lifecycle,  a key contributor to our procurement operations with a heavy emphasis on supplier risk mitigation and data integrity. You will ensure compliance with internal controls, and champion best practices across the Etsy HOB.  

• Lead the day-to-day vendor life cycle process, serving as the primary point of contact for new suppliers during onboarding and managing all operational support.

• Manage all supplier data modifications and the offboarding process for Etsy and HOB suppliers.

• Ensure all necessary documentation, contracts, and compliance requirements are completed, maintained, and reviewed on a regular basis.

• Review all initial supplier requests to check for duplicates and ensure data accuracy from the outset.

• Develop a centralized onboarding process to create greater visibility on vendor status across the organization.

• Manage the supplier risk review process during initial onboarding and through regular periodic assessments.

• Take ownership of the Vendor SOX controls process, proposing improvements to existing controls in collaboration with the Internal Audit team.

• Escalate supplier risks appropriately within the organization and collaborate with compliance, legal, and business users to mitigate risks or terminate suppliers.

• Collaborate with Procurement, Compliance, Information Security, and Legal departments to ensure adherence to all regional and local AML and KYC laws and policies.

• Work in conjunction with AI on prioritizing alerts and screening grid applications.

• Ensure all company policies are regularly reviewed and updated to reflect current standards and requirements.

• Interact with internal and external clients to identify requirements and resolve issues.

• Educate stakeholders on vendor life cycle best practices by holding training sessions with end users.

• Map current processes and dependencies to highlight areas of opportunity for increased efficiency and compliance.

• Report to Senior Leadership on metrics and objectives related to vendor life cycle management.

• Support and champion process changes as they relate to the vendor life cycle.

Qualities that will help you thrive in this role are:

• A minimum of 4+ years of procurement experience, with at least 3 years focused specifically on supplier management, including onboarding, risk assessment, and data governance.

• A solid understanding of fundamental procurement and vendor life cycle processes and the ability to communicate the hows and whys to users.

• Demonstrated experience in managing supplier data within ERP systems; previous experience with Coupa & Workday is an advantage.

• Experience in managing supplier risk, quality control, and workflow management and design.

• The ability to identify gaps in current solutions, collaborate with internal groups, and influence change as a subject matter expert.

• Advanced problem-solving skills, including active listening and the ability to analyze problems and map out solutions.

• Experience in training on supplier onboarding best practices for a wide range of learning styles.

• Outstanding organizational and time-management skills, with high attention to detail.

• Excellent teamwork skills and experience in building effective remote and in-person relationships.

• Previous experience with Coupa & Workday (or other ERP systems) is an advantage.

• Experience in leading S2P practices and implementing industry trends.

• A curiosity to learn how things work and a desire to improve them.

• A trust in and commitment to Etsy’s vision, mission and values.
