What’s the role?
We’re looking for a Software Engineer II to join our Seller Ads Experience squad, which sits within the Ads Experience & Platform initiative and the broader Etsy Ads group. As part of our squad, you’ll collaborate with a thoughtful, cross-functional team to understand and build ads-related tools and features for our sellers. This is a great role for someone who’s excited to help Etsy sellers market their creations through meaningful ads experiences, while also impacting an important and growing part of Etsy’s business.
In addition to writing code, in this role you can expect to:
Cultivate an understanding of and sense of empathy for Etsy sellers and their diverse needs
Socialize and refine your ideas with other engineers and cross-functional partners
Collaborate to hypothesize and run experiments, to uncover the opportunities ahead
Learn new frameworks, tools, and processes to power thoughtful engineering
Reflect regularly with the squad on opportunities, celebrate successes, and have fun!
This is a full-time position reporting to the Engineering Manager, Seller Ads Experience. In addition to salary, you will also be eligible for an equity package, an annual performance bonus, and our competitive benefits that support you and your family as part of your total rewards package at Etsy.
This role requires your presence in Etsy’s Mexico City office once or twice per week depending on your proximity to the office. What does the day-to-day look like?
Help our sellers stand out in the marketplace by building tools to improve their marketplace advertisements and make their inventory more appealing to buyers.
Prototype, optimize, and production-ize large-scale product improvements that deliver key results.
Run A/B experiments to validate and learn from product improvements.
Collaborate with product managers, product designers, analysts, researchers, and other full-stack engineers to deliver optimal content to tens of millions of users.

Qualities that will help you thrive in this role are:
An interest in solving user problems and driving business impact through high-quality, maintainable, and readable code
At least 2 years of experience writing and deploying full-stack web software in any of the following languages: PHP, Python, Ruby, Java, Go, and/or JavaScript
Experience collaborating with cross-functional partners (engineers, product managers, product designers, researchers, and analysts)
A sense of self-direction, and ability to pathfind and learn quickly
A willingness to support your team’s success by helping those around you, and offering ideas and support when needed
Other nice-to-haves include:
Experience using A/B testing to validate ideas and uncover next steps
History working on two-sided marketplaces
Past experience building ads products
