What's the role?

We are looking for an experienced finance professional to join our Strategic Finance team. Our team has a business partner philosophy and structure where each member is aligned with a key part of Etsy’s business - in this case, the Marketing team. You will support the success of efforts at Etsy by providing critical analysis and insights to drive business decisions around our digital marketing strategy and its financial implications.

The Strategic Finance Manager will be responsible for analyzing marketing trends, building financial forecast and ROI models, and collaborating with our business partners. As this role will have a focus on supporting our Digital Marketing Channels, your day-to-day will include (but not be limited to): forecasting and evaluating our Marketing spend and topline growth, weekly reporting to our CFO and CMO, and working with our marketing, data science and finance teams to build goals and forecasts for future periods. This is a full-time position reporting to the Strategic Finance Director for Marketing. In addition to salary, you will also be eligible for an equity package, an annual performance bonus, and our competitive benefits that support you and your family as part of your total rewards package at Etsy. 

This role requires your presence in Etsy’s Brooklyn Office once or twice per week depending on your proximity to the office. What does the day-to-day look like?

• Own our Digital Marketing forecast model, including projecting future spend & topline growth based on marketing trends and campaign performance. 

• Analyze ROI (Return on Investment) for marketing campaigns to measure effectiveness and reallocate budgets to maximize efficiency

• Leverage data to identify diminishing returns and improving marketing efficiency, considering both in year and customer lifetime value

• Deliver accurate, actionable reports on marketing channel performance to inform leadership investment decisions

• Analyze financial and operational trends, providing strategic insights and articulate their business impact to drive data-informed decisions

• Empower business leaders with data and insights, helping them interpret analyses, measure progress, and develop investment cases

• Collaborate with Strategic Finance to prepare high-impact financial reviews for the Executive Team and Board of Directors

• Develop strategic frameworks and financial assessments for potential new marketing investments, contributing to a playbook of best practices and growth initiatives

Qualities that will help you thrive in this role are:

• 8+ years of finance experience, including experience in financial planning, business analysis, investment banking, accounting or related, with confirmed understanding of financial modeling and analysis tools

• The ideal candidate has familiarity and interest in Digital Marketing and enjoys a fast-paced, dynamic environment

• Familiarity with and passion for the e-commerce industry

• Thrives when working in a collaborative environment and is eager to learn

• Proficiency in Microsoft Office or Google Sheets

• Experience with Looker, SQL, Workday Financial Management, or Planful is also a strength
