What’s the role?

The Payments team at Etsy is a large group committed to crafting and maintaining a resilient, streamlined, and scalable payments platform for buyers, sellers and Etsy globally. Available in 52 countries, Etsy Payments enables buyers and sellers to transact in 21 currencies and offers a number of different methods to pay for items on our site.

This is a full-time position reporting to the Group Product Manager, Payments. In addition to salary, you will also be eligible for an equity package, an annual performance bonus, and our competitive benefits that support you and your family as part of your total rewards package at Etsy.

What’s this team like at Etsy?

The Payments team is a critical group within Etsy. One of its core responsibilities is ensuring all of our marketplace's payments activity is aligned with regulatory obligations, payments industry standards, and local tax requirements in the markets that Etsy operates. In this role, you’ll partner with an engineering team as well as cross-functional partners to create and execute a compliance strategy to meet these obligations in a customer-centric way, reducing friction for Etsy’s buyers and sellers.

What does the day-to-day look like?

  • Partner with engineering, analytics, design, and other teams (payments or other compliance teams) to define and prioritize the highest impact projects.

  • Develop, own, and execute the tax and regulatory compliance strategy and roadmap.

  • Communicate commitments, key milestones, and updates to partners on an ongoing cadence.

  • Drive the squad's execution by collaborating closely with engineering and analytics partners, having ownership over the performance (and measurement) of the team’s product and operational experiences, including impact to the business and our customers.

  • Integrate analysis and customer feedback into product requirements to ensure products satisfy customer needs, as well as wants.

  • Of course, this is just a sample of the kinds of work this role will require! You should assume that your role will encompass other tasks, too, and that your job duties and responsibilities may change from time to time at Etsy's discretion, or otherwise applicable with local law.

Qualities that will help you thrive in this role are:

  • 5+ years of experience leading product initiatives.

  • Experience leading regulation focused product development squads.

  • Knowledge of e-commerce, working within payment systems and vendor integrations to process payments is a strong plus.

  • Familiar with using qualitative and quantitative data to make product decisions. You also know when and how to balance data with intuition.

  • Passionate about solving real customer problems and advocating for their needs. You’re outspoken about trying to minimize any negative impact on the customer experience.

  • Inspiring, engaging and clear communication styles; optimistic and forward-looking!

  • Natural collaborator who knows how to drive decision-making with Engineering, Product Design, and analytics.

  • A passionate member of the Etsy community and someone who believes in Etsy’s vision, mission and values!
