$131,000.00 - $170,000.00
What’s the role?
As a Software Engineer on the Channel Optimizations squad within our Growth group, you'll drive traffic growth to Etsy while enhancing the buyer landing experience. You'll collaborate with cross-functional teams to optimize how users experience Etsy when arriving from external sources. The role involves rapid hypothesis validation through A/B testing to identify high-impact improvements. Additionally, you'll maintain third-party integrations critical for marketing team decisions about ad campaigns and develop automated processes to enhance campaign management capabilities.
This is a full-time position reporting to the Engineering Manager, Channel Optimizations. In addition to salary, you will also be eligible for an equity package, an annual performance bonus, and our competitive benefits that support you and your family as part of your total rewards package at Etsy.
For this role, we are considering candidates based in the United States. Candidates living within commutable distance of Etsy’s Brooklyn Office Hub or in the San Francisco Bay Area may be the first to be considered. For candidates within commutable distance, Etsy requires in-office attendance once or twice per week depending on your proximity to the office. 4 engineers working closely with the Designer, Product Manager, and Engineering Manager, while partnering with cross-functional teams like marketing analytics and user research
Helpful, compassionate team players who are comfortable owning projects end-to-end but are also comfortable collaborating and working together on larger tracks of work
What does the day-to-day look like?
Work closely with third-party marketing APIs to enable our marketing analytics teams to make business-critical decisions and gain visibility into paid search performance
Work closely with the marketing team to understand business needs and translate them into technical requirements
Break down large projects into smaller deliverable tasks and independently tackle well-scoped tracks of work established by your team and other stakeholders
Push code to production early and often using our continuous deployment systems
Contribute at all levels of our web application stack, primarily in back-end technologies. We mainly use PHP, BigQuery, MySQL, and Airflow, but it's okay if you don't have experience with all of these!
Participate in team’s agile development ceremonies and processes as well as monthly on-call support rotation
Develop software with an eye on quality, using performance monitoring tooling, automated and manual testing, and observability tools to verify the correctness and quality of your code

Qualities that will help you thrive in this role are:
2+ years of practical software development experience.
Experience operating in a full-stack environment and owning the development of features end-to-end
Close attention to detail, with the ability to translate design and product requirements to production-ready code
A bias toward data-driven decision making and desire to build out experiments that enable big product and design decisions
A sense of self-direction, and ability to learn quickly
Experience in PHP; some experience in the rest of the tech stack would be helpful but not required
Experience working on large-scale data problems
Experience operating within a large codebase and knowledge of how to craft simplicity from complex systems
Comfortability with collaborating with Product Managers and Designers to ensure that you’re delivering impactful product features
Strong communication that adapts to technical and non-technical audiences
