What's the Role?

We are looking for an Engineering Manager to join a multidisciplinary app development team. You will work alongside native engineers to reduce developer interruptions in our product-focused apps teams. You will have the opportunity to contribute directly to Etsy’s goals and growth alongside mobile engineers and partners.

This is a full-time position reporting to the App Engineering Manager. In addition to salary, you will also be eligible for an equity package, an annual performance bonus, and our competitive benefits that support you and your family as part of your total rewards package at Etsy.

This role requires your presence in Etsy’s Mexico City office once or twice per week depending on your proximity to the office. Candidates living within commutable distance of our Mexico City office or in Guadalajara may be the first to be considered. What’s this team like at Etsy?

•  You will be part of an engineering team within our Product Enablement Group, responsible for working on projects that can come from virtually anywhere within Etsy. This team specifically works on projects where stakeholders need help scoping. What does the day-to-day look like?

• Lead the team to build great features. At Etsy, engineering managers have a limited role in the hands-on process of building software but a huge role in orchestrating and coaching engineers to achieve results together.

• Prioritize, scope, plan, develop, and deliver projects at various completion stages or definitions when started.

• Collaboration is critical in this role. You will work closely with other engineering teams and their product managers across Etsy.

• Participate in the end-to-end recruiting process, hiring, and onboarding exceptional engineering talent.

• Partner cross-functionally with Product and Engineering to ensure that your team is delivering value for our contributors

• Participate in defining and achieving Objectives and Key Results for your team.

Qualities that will help you thrive in this role are:

• 3+ years of experience directly managing engineers - including providing leadership, mentorship, feedback, and investing in their career growth,

• You have experience with Native App Development (Swift and Objective-C on iOS or Kotlin and Java on Android) and have delivered Apps at scale.

• You have a passion for building data-related products and understand good systems design.

• You can make engineering tradeoffs based on problem and context,

• You can collaborate effectively with both junior and senior team members.
