Be valued for who you are

At Etsy, we know that attracting great talent is just the first step; equally important is to invest in programs that support the retention and growth of our employees. We are committed to building an environment in which employees feel empowered to come, stay, and thrive.

Our Commitment

One of Etsy’s guiding principles is to embrace diverse perspectives. We believe these perspectives make us stronger, allowing us to make better decisions and build better products in service of our customers. That’s why we continue to focus on building a workforce where all people, regardless of race, color, ancestry, religion, sex, national origin, sexual orientation, age, citizenship, marital status, disability, gender identity or veteran status, can come, stay and thrive.

Our commitments extend to our work on the Etsy marketplace. We develop unique ways for buyers to help discover the works of incredible sellers from underrepresented communities. One example of this is Etsy’s Uplift Initiative, a diverse set of programs focused on supporting creative entrepreneurs facing challenges such as lack of access to an internet connection or limited digital skills and capital to grow their businesses.

Some Of Our Progress

We are committed to transparent reporting on our workforce diversity. Learn more about our progress in our recent SEC filings. Additionally, we are committed to ensuring equitable access to opportunities for employment, engagement, and development, as further described further below.

Inclusive Interviewing

Competency Based Hiring

Our teams use a skills-based hiring rubric that maps back to Etsy’s competencies. Interview questions and order remain consistent for every candidate, thereby ensuring fairness and allowing each candidate equal opportunity to relay capabilities.

Inclusive Hiring

All members of Etsy hiring panels participate in an interview training program that provides them with actionable strategies that seek to mitigate bias. The panels themselves are selected to include diversity of thought, experience, and background.

Investing in Engagement & Development

Employee Resource Groups (ERGs):

ERGs are voluntary, employee-led groups that serve as a resource for members and their employers by fostering an inclusive workplace aligned with organizational mission and values. ERGs are dedicated to employees with shared identity characteristics protected by law. Allies are also invited and encouraged to join ERGs in order to support their colleagues and expand their perspectives.

Dens:

Open to all full-time employees, Dens are small cohorts of peers who gather every other week and engage in a facilitated conversation around leadership and challenges we face at work. They are a great way to get support beyond your manager and team, and have been described as ‘awesome work therapy’ by participants.

Mentorship Programs:

Through facilitated touchpoints and reflective practice, mentors will lead mentees through targeted coaching, exploration of career aspirations, and discussion of growth opportunities. Tapping the knowledge, network, and influence of the mentor; Etsy’s approach to mentorship encourages pairs to engage, build relationships, and contribute to company culture in new ways.
