What’s the role?
Etsy is looking for a Senior Manager, Consumer Communications to lead and shape earned media strategy across the UK and key European markets. This role will focus on scaling Etsy’s presence in new and existing markets—tailoring our efforts to ensure our story resonates with audiences across the region.
You will be responsible for setting the regional PR vision, leading our external agency, and identifying the most impactful ways to tell Etsy’s story to consumer and lifestyle media. You’ll work cross-functionally with Marketing, Brand, and International teams, to drive high-impact press coverage while uncovering new storytelling opportunities.
This is a full-time position reporting to the Director of Global Consumer Communications. In addition to salary, you will also be eligible for an equity package, an annual performance bonus, and our competitive benefits that support you and your family as part of your total rewards package at Etsy.

The Consumer Comms team drives global relevance through a steady drumbeat of organic coverage that strengthens Etsy’s positioning as the go-to destination for original, special items from sellers around the world. We play a key role in crafting Etsy’s brand perception and fueling brand love by showcasing what makes Etsy special, amplifying major initiatives, telling seller stories, and crafting buzz-worthy campaigns that resonate with media and inspire buyers. Working closely with both internal partners and external PR agencies, we implement high-impact storytelling that makes Etsy unmissable in the media.
What does the day-to-day look like?
Own consumer comms strategy across Europe and the UK, shaping how Etsy shows up in the media and scaling our presence in new and existing markets.
Manage external PR agencies, providing strategic guidance and ensuring a steady drumbeat of earned media coverage across lifestyle and consumer press.
Tailor global campaigns into locally relevant stories and activations, translating key initiatives to resonate in the UK and European markets.
Build compelling narratives and story angles that drive high-impact media interest across key verticals, including home, style, gifts, and more.
Balance proactive and reactive storytelling—driving strategic campaigns while staying nimble and jumping on cultural moments that make sense for the brand.
Build and maintain strong relationships with journalists, editors, and influencers across the UK and Europe.
Find and execute opportunities for our consumer-facing spokesperson, including messaging development, ghostwriting quotes, media prep, and more.
Deeply integrated with the International team, ensuring regional PR efforts complement global objectives and align with broader business priorities.
Work cross-functionally with Marketing, Social, and Brand teams, as well as the broader Consumer Comms team, to amplify campaigns and find new storytelling opportunities.
Plan, lead, and execute local press events around key campaigns, landing coverage and strengthening our media relationships.
Share and amplify media coverage internally, keeping key leaders and partners updated with regular reporting on media moments, campaign impact, and press results.
Source and vet sellers and products for localized media outreach.
Support issues management and reputational strategy in the region as needed.
Mentor more junior team members, helping to elevate their work and media relationships.

Qualities that will help you thrive in this role are:
7+ years of experience in consumer PR, with a strong background in the UK and European media landscape.
Experience leading PR agencies, including setting strategies, prioritizing efforts, and evaluating success.
Lives and breathes culture—you’re tapped into what’s new and emerging, always thinking about how Etsy can be part of the conversation.
A creative storyteller who knows how to craft compelling narratives, pitch them effectively, and secure impactful coverage.
Deep understanding of consumer behavior, media trends, and shopping habits in the UK + EU.
A sharp sense of what makes a story land—you can find opportunities, package them creatively, and get them noticed.
A self-starter who thrives in a fast paced environment, balancing multiple priorities without missing a beat.
Leads with optimism and a “can do” attitude.
Nimble and scrappy—you’re resourceful, adaptable, and willing to roll up your sleeves to get things done.
Detailed and highly organized, with the ability to lead multiple projects seamlessly.
Strong writing, verbal communication, and media pitching skills.
Ability to speak multiple languages is a plus.
