Salary Range:

$129,000.00 - $167,000.00

What’s the role?

 As a Senior Manager, Marketplace Safety on Etsy’s Trust & Safety team, you will lead a team of Policy Enforcement Specialists to mitigate policy violating content on Etsy’s Marketplace. You’ll be responsible for day-to-day operations, and you’ll collaborate with cross-functional partner teams across Policy, Product, Engineering and other teams to identify and implement scalable Trust & Safety processes. You develop and drive strategy for your team and Trust & Safety initiatives
 

This is a full-time position reporting to the Senior Director. In addition to salary, you will also be eligible for an equity package, an annual performance bonus, and our competitive benefits that support you and your family as part of your total rewards package at Etsy. 

This role requires your presence in Etsy’s Brooklyn office once or twice per week depending on your proximity to the office. What’s this team like at Etsy?

The Marketplace Safety team is always on the lookout for trends that violate our policies. This requires a passion for detail and a strong understanding of what constitutes violating content. We collaborate with partner teams including Policy, Product, Engineering, Legal, and Vendor partners to continuously improve our detection and enforcement strategies. Communication is key, as you need to share insights and collaborate on complex cases.

We also engage with members who report offensive content or who are affected by it, providing support and clear communication. The landscape of offensive content is always evolving, so staying updated on trends, legal regulations, and best practices is crucial for us. Knowing that our efforts contribute to a safer online environment allows us to do meaningful and impactful work. We help to create spaces where people feel protected and respected.


 

What does the day-to-day look like?

  • Lead, inspire and coach a distributed team of Policy Enforcement Specialists responsible for policy enforcement of offensive content and behaviors on Etsy’s marketplace

  • Play a key role in crafting and driving the team's abuse mitigation strategy in collaboration with cross-functional partner teams (Policy, Product, Engineering, Vendor Operations, Analytics).

  • Collaborate with cross-functional partners to identify and implement processes to scale and improve efficiencies across Trust & Safety 

  • Manage and resolve timely issues that could pose legal, regulatory, or reputational risks; this may involve the need to be available on weekends if the business requires

  • Lead all aspects of day-to-day operations, ensuring efficient processes, resource allocation, and effective risk management.

  • Use data and analytics to inform strategic decisions and measure the impact of initiatives.

Qualities that will help you thrive in this role are:

  • 7+ years of experience in policy development, implementation, and/or enforcement in Trust and Safety, tech, or online platform sectors.

  • 3+ years of team management experience and ability to motivate, coach and develop high performing teams

  • Proven track record of creating and driving cross-functional strategies

  • Ability to build relationships and manage cross-functional partners remotely and across geographies

  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills

  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills

  • Ability to influence and collaborate with diverse teams

  • Be highly comfortable in a fast-paced, agile environment
